Round 4, pick No. 116: DJ Daniel, CB, Georgia

The NY Giants telegraphed that they still believe they have a need at cornerback, by hosting veteran defensive back Jason McCourty for a free agent visit recently, even after signing Adoree’ Jackson in free agency.

D.J. Daniel is a long cornerback with ideal speed, who is physical enough to play in the slot but talented enough to also line up outside when called upon.

During one-plus seasons as a starter at Georgia, at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, Daniel produced 51 total tackles and nine pass breakups.

According to Pro Football Focus, Daniel never missed a tackle in college, and this could make him an ideal candidate to transition to safety long-term, if the NY Giants opt to convert Xavier McKinney to cornerback at some point.
