Round 6, pick No. 201: Elijah Mitchell, RB, Louisiana

Even after signing Devontae Booker early in free agency, it wouldn’t be the least bit surprising if the NY Giants add a running back, particularly as added insurance on Saquon Barkley’s suddenly lengthy injury history.

Mitchell, 5-foot-11 and 218 pounds, averaged 6.2 yards per carry last season while rushing for 878 yards and scoring eight touchdowns for the Ragin’ Cajuns.

A bowling ball of a running back who tends to fall forward for extra yardage against would-be tacklers, Mitchell also has the added bonus of being a competent pass-catcher out of the backfield.

With his solid frame, downhill running style, and shiftiness in the open-field, Mitchell good be a nice complement to Barkley and Booker for the next several years.
