The Penn State Nittany Lions could be sending another player to to the NY Giants

The NY Giants’ No. 11 pick is one of the most difficult draft picks to predict in the upcoming 2021 NFL draft.

New York could take a receiver, it could be an offensive lineman, maybe a cornerback, or another defender at #11.

FanSided’s NFL Insider Matt Lombardo gave his definitive Mock Draft this week. In the mock, Lombardo selected Micah Parsons with the NY Giants #11 selection.

With the selection, Lombardo gives his input:

"Parsons is the defensive player in this draft who easily has the highest ceiling as well as the highest floor. It is my belief that Dave Gettleman would prefer to land a playmaker to add to Daniel Jones’ arsenal in a pivotal year in the quarterback’s development and the organization’s evaluation of him, but with the top receivers off the board, his next preference is the versatile Parsons. Parsons’ athleticism makes him an ideal complement inside alongside Blake Martinez."

The NY Giants could greatly stand to add the draft’s top defensive player.

Parsons is a very talented, do-it-all linebacker who can rush the passer, stop the run, and play in pass coverage all exceptionally well. If this draft scenario shapes out, the Giants won’t be adding a receiver at #11 with Jaylen Waddle, DeVonta Smith, and Ja’Marr Chase off the board before No. 11. They will wait until later in the draft and they can have the freedom to make their promising defense even more exciting with a dynamo prospect like Parsons.

Parsons could fill a multitude of roles in Pat Graham’s versatile defense. He originally was recruited as a defensive end out of high school, and he played all over the Penn State defense. Additionally, Parsons has played off the edge, in the ground with his hand in the dirt, he’s stood up and played pass coverage, and he’s been a presence at inside linebacker.

Adding Parsons’ position versatility, coverage skills, and pass rush abilities would be a huge boon to the NY Giants’ defense.
