NY Giants general manager Dave Gettleman had never previously traded back in the NFL Draft, but that changed during the first-round on Thursday night.
Moments after the Philadelphia Eagles traded up to the No. 10 overall pick — in a trade with the NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys — to select former Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith, Gettleman and the NY Giants moved back to the No. 20 overall pick in a blockbuster trade with the Chicago Bears.
The Bears ultimately chose Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields with the pick acquired from the NY Giants, but Gettleman wound up adding a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and more.
Following the trade, the NY Giants own seven picks in the 2021 NFL Draft class, as well as a pair of first-round picks next spring.
