Round 6, pick No. 196: Gary Brightwell, RB, Arizona

Adding running back depth behind Saquon Barkley and Devontae Booker was on the NY Giants’ NFL Draft shopping list, and Gettleman picked up an intriguing slasher of a back on Saturday afternoon.

Last season, prior to declaring for the NFL Draft, Brightwell averaged 4.4 yards carry on 88 rushes for 390 yards in five games.

Brightwell is the type of runner who looks for the home run on every snap, but if he can learn to take what the defense gives him and lowers his shoulder rather than always looking for that extra cutback, his hard-nosed style gives him a chance to crack New York’s backfield rotation behind Barkley.
