The 2021 NFL Draft is finally in the books, and the NY Giants surprised everyone.

Dave Gettleman traded back, the team didn’t select an offensive lineman, and they bolstered their secondary – there weren’t many people who had those scenarios on their bingo card.

Even though the Giants went against what most experts expected, their draft was forward thinking – giving the team valuable assets for next season and years to come. Combined with their tremendous free agency, the end of the rebuild is imminent.

With every draft comes the chance to remake the roster – while the Giants didn’t overhaul their team, players new and old alike will be fighting for playing time. No place is that more evident than the secondary and pass rushing units – positions where the team added two draftees each.

Joe Judge’s squad is looking to contend next year, and it looks like they’re finally on their way. While the Giants may be big winners from their draft haul, some fan favorites may be in trouble as a result.

Here are the winners and losers after the NY Giants’ 2021 NFL Draft Class:

Winners:

Daniel Jones

The Giants’ quarterback was already a big winner this off-season due to the team’s free agent haul – adding offensive weapon Kadarius Toney in the draft made things even sweeter.

Jones has never had a great supporting cast around him – not in college at Duke, and not since he replaced Eli Manning in New York. Now the talent surrounding him gives him a myriad of options – if he can just get the ball to his weapons, the Giants’ offense will be electric.

Gettleman took a lot of flack when he drafted Jones sixth overall, but he’s giving the quarterback he believed in every reason to succeed.
