#3. Elerson Smith

Projected Role: Backup DE/EDGE Rusher, Special Teams.

Elerson Smith is one of the biggest sleepers on the NY Giants’ roster entering the 2021 offseason. He enters a crowded but unimpressive group of edge rushers and outside linebackers.

Don’t let Smith’s small-school status fool you. This kid can play and has freakish size and athleticism at 6’7, 250 pounds.

Fans shouldn’t kid themselves, the Giants coaching staff will likely want to and find multiple ways to get him on the field during games. Whether he’ll be lining up off the edge, lining up in the dirt, or dropping into coverage, Smith can handle it all and will give maximum effort while doing so.

Elerson Smith can easily find a way to start or create a substantial role in the defense in training camp. His size and speed combo are intriguing and his development is a key story to follow in the coming months.
