If the Packers don’t fancy any of the Giants’ offensive assets, they might have to get creative with some defensive options.

It may hurt to send Dexter Lawrence and Oshane Ximines packing, but getting an all-time great quarterback who can still sling it in return softens the blow. It would be tough to fill the void that losing Lawrence would leave, but Patrick Graham’s creativeness inspires confidence.

The Packers’ defense is already solid, but Lawrence and Ximines would ensure that their defense remains that way. Lawrence and Kenny Clark would combine for arguably the best interior defensive line in the league, while Ximines can learn from players like Za’Darius Smith, Preston Smith and Dean Lowry.

Green Bay could opt to replenish their offense in the draft with players like Justyn Ross, George Pickens and Jahan Dotson available. With their embarrassment of riches, they could have their pick of the litter.

The Giants’ defense wouldn’t collapse without Lawrence and Ximines, and their offense would catapult to one of the league’s best. Gettleman may have said he ‘loves his hog-mollies’ when asked about Lawrence, but he’ll love bringing the Giants back to the upper echelon even more.
