The NY Giants dramatically increased the talent on both sides of the ball this offseason, during free agency and the 2021 NFL Draft

Gil Brandt is a member of the Hall of Fame and one of the more respected talent evaluators in NFL history, and this week raved about the NY Giants’ offseason.

Brandt believes that the NY Giants had one of the best offseasons this spring and are among the teams that helped themselves the most:

"Quarterback Daniel Jones is heading into a sink-or-swim Year 3 — but never let it be said GM Dave Gettleman didn’t do everything in his power to give him the weapons needed to succeed. Receivers Kenny Golladay (signed on a four-year, $72 million contract) and Kadarius Toney (drafted 20th overall after Gettleman, yes, traded down!) and versatile tight end Kyle Rudolph (signed to a two-year, $14 million deal) join a skill-position group that will be further augmented by the return to health of running back Saquon Barkley. On defense, Gettleman secured a long-term agreement with centerpiece defensive lineman Leonard Williams. He also rolled the dice on comeback Adoree’ Jackson (three years, $39 million) rebounding from the knee injury that ruined his 2020 season. Another move that could pay huge dividends: snagging pass rusher Azeez Ojulari, a first-round talent who slipped to the second round."

The NY Giants’ roster is unquestionably more talented, and deeper, today than it was when the 2020 regular season ended with a win over the NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys.

Golladay, and Rudolph have the chance to be legitimate playmakers on offense, and first-round rookie Kadarius Toney has the potential to be among the most productive offensive rookies in the NFL, given his versatility, speed, explosiveness and space to operate in that’s created by the playmakers around him.

Meanwhile, the NY Giants shored up a glaring need at cornerback, by signing Jackson, and added depth there with a pair of cornerbacks chosen during last weekend’s NFL Draft.

There is an adage, of course, that Super Bowls aren’t win in March, but they can be lost.

Gettleman and the NY Giants won’t receive any trophies or championship rings for their offseason acquisitions, but the organization has every right to be thrilled with its haul from free agency and the NFL Draft, potentially setting the stage for a legitimate run at the postseason in 2021.
