Chris Watts, one of the last remaining member of the NY Giants’ personnel department under former general manager Jerry Reese, is no longer with the organization

The NY Giants have parted ways with long-time scout Chris Watts.

News of Watts’ departure from the organization was first reported by Neil Stratton, of Inside The League.

Watts was among the NY Giants’ longest-tenured personnel evaluators, having spent 14 years with the organization and was a member of former general manager Jerry Reese’s staff.

After rising up through the organization, beginning as a training camp intern in 2005, Watts leaves the NY Giants after his most recent tenure as a southwest area scout. He will likely be a sought after scout for teams across the league.

The NY Giants added six players over last weekend’s 2021 NFL Draft, including Arizona running back Gary Brightwell in the sixth-round who likely would have fallen under Watts’ jurisdiction in terms of scouting.

It isn’t uncommon for there to be turnover inside personnel departments across the NFL, following the NFL Draft each year. Typically, though, these changes are more frequent when a new general manager and/or head coach arrives.
