The NY Giants figure to play a key role in compensatory picks awarded in the 2022 NFL Draft

Don’t expect the NY Giants to secure any compensatory picks in the 2022 NFL Draft.

That’s the cost of being among the biggest spenders in free agency, which the NY Giants were throughout the course of his offseason.

The NY Giants aggressively added to quarterback Daniel Jones’ arsenal via free agency, signing the best available wide receiver; Kenny Golladay, added tight end Kyle Rudolph, and on defense nabbed veteran cornerback — and former first-round pick, Adoree’ Jackson.

Because the NFL awards compensatory picks based on the difference in production from players lost compared to those signed by a team, it is unlikely that they NY Giants will be awarded any additional picks.

However, the Giants will likely play a key hand in the selections other teams recoup, according to latest projections from OverTheCap:

"As of now, only two 3rd rounders are projected to be awarded: to the Steelers for Bud Dupree going to the Titans, and to the Lions for Kenny Golladay going to the Giants."

Because the NY Giants lost Dalvin Tomlinson and Kyler Fackrell via free agency, there is always a chance that their production could net an additional choice, but that seems unlikely based on the money spent by general manager Dave Gettleman to bolster the roster this spring.

It as thought 2022 will mark the second consecutive year that the NY Giants will not receive any compensatory selections.
