6) Will Hernandez – OG

Will Hernandez’ fall from grace with new head coach Joe Judge and this NY Giants coaching staff was a precipitous one.

Even after the NY Giants chose Shane Lemieux, a raw prospect out of Oregon, in last year’s NFL Draft, Hernandez opened the season as New York’s starting left guard. But, he didn’t stay there for long.

Hernandez has never lived up to being a second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, and last season his regression was particularly dramatic.

After starting every game of his first two NFL seasons, Hernandez became a rotational player in 2020, and missed time after being the first NY Giants player to test positive for COVID-19. Hernandez allowed just one sack, but also 25 pressures and five quarterback hits last season, as Pro Football Focus awarded him a 58.1 overall grade.

The NY Giants felt more comfortable playing Lemieux, who allowed five sacks and 25 pressures.

There is no question that Hernandez is playing for his job in 2021.
