The NY Giants have to force turnvoers and avoid creating any of their own

The NY Giants need to do a better job in the turnovers department this season.

It’s no longer acceptable or okay for Jones to constantly average and cough up 1, 2, or 3  turnovers per game via interceptions and fumbles. If Jones can’t protect the football, he won’t play much longer and the NY Giants won’t win much.

It’s that simple.

The New York offense collectively has to step up as an entire unit. From wide receiver and tight ends to linemen, running backs, and the QB, this offense is too talented to be held back by mistakes made by Pop Warner football players.

Dropped passes, blown blocking assignments, runners not finding the open holes, and the QB carelessly throwing the ball to defenders and fumbling the ball on several sacks is no longer acceptable. It was maddening watching the Giants struggle with their worst offense in over 15 years.

Last year, the team had little-to-no talent at any position on offense.

They have greatly improved at receiver, they added a veteran tight end in Kyle Rudolph, Saquon should be back healthy, and the line is set to play another year together. All that added in, and you have an improved receivers group, better tight end options, a healthier runningbacks group (hopefully), and these things should make Daniel Jones’ life much easier.

Lock has turnover issues of his own to worry about. If the Giants can get home with a sack, they need to look to knock the ball out of Lock’s hands and make a game-changing play. Any 50-50 balls on defense have to be won by the corners and safeties. If a bad pass finds its way to a New York defender, they must take advantage of it and create a turnover and flip the field for the Giants’ offense.

Turnovers are game-changing plays in every football game. Few things shift momentum or can affect the mood and spirit of a football team. If the Giants can hold onto the football on offense and steal a possession or two on defense, they should have a great chance to win Week 1 in MetLife Stadium.
