Just before rookie minicamp is set to begin, the NY Giants signed second-round draft choice Azeez Ojulari.

NY Giants second-round pick Azeez Ojulari signed his rookie contract, the team announced Thursday, one day before rookie minicamp is set to begin in East Rutherford.

Ojulari, chosen by the Giants with the No. 50 overall pick in the NFL Draft last month, has the chance to compete immediately for top of rotation snaps in coordinator Patrick Graham’s pass rush.

The Georgia alum was also a popular choice among evaluators around the league, in terms of matching talent to scheme fit, and need.

“I like him quite a bit,” a rival NFC personnel executive tells GMenHQ, on the condition of anonymity to be able to speak freely about the Giants’ incoming rookie. “Good production against the quarterback in college, has a good motor, and he’s a damn good athlete.”

In three seasons in Athens, Ojulari produced 70 tackles, 14 sacks, 18.5 tackles for loss, generated 74 total pressures. He just might vault former Georgia teammate Lorenzo Carter and 2019 third-round pick Oshane Ximines to the top of the NY Giants’ pass-rush rotation.

The NY Giants also came to terms Thursday with rookie running back Gary Brightwell, and cornerback Rodarius Williams, on their rookie deals.

New York will hold a pair of practices during rookie minicamp, this Friday and Saturday at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center.
