The Washington Football Team’s loss could stand to be an NY Giants win.

The NY Giants could stand to have a better, steadier option at right tackle this year to ensure more confidence in their offensive line.

The Giants‘ division rival in the nation’s capital released their longtime starting lineman, Morgan Moses, this week.

Moses was cut this week largely due to a large $9.6 million cap hit. Washington simply couldn’t afford this thanks in large part to the COVID-19 pandemic and the decreased salary cap in 2021. He was set to enter year four of a five-year, $38.5 million contract he signed in 2017.

Moses has been a reliable and dependent starter for Washington for several years. He has played in 104 games and started 97 games total. He’s started every game the past six years and hasn’t missed a game since his rookie season in 2014.

Moses has the massive size and length the Giants historically like in their tackles. His 6-foot-6 and 330-pound frame gives him the chance to engulf and swallow defenders and oncoming rushers on any given play. The Giants have faced Moses for years so there is absolutely familiarity (and likely respect for his game).

Moses is 30 years old who is still a good tackle on the right side.

The NY Giants need that type of durability and consistency from their right side of the offensive line. Currently, New York is set to have Matt Peart and Nate Solder duke it out to beat the other in training camp. Peart showed promising flashes last year and the Giants clearly like him. However, he missed extensive time due to COVID and lost a lot of the snaps he was seeing before the virus.

Moses would be another welcomed addition to the NY Giants amidst a busy offseason at 1925 Giants Drive. If the price is right, the Giants should explore adding Moses to the team and cross off one of their biggest concerns and remaining holes on the roster.
