Dexter Lawrence, Defensive Lineman

Draft Spot: #17 in 2019 NFL Draft. Selected by the NY Giants (pick acquired via Odell Beckham Jr. Trade)

Projected Role: Starting Defensive Linemen

Dexter Lawrence was a classic Dave Gettleman draft choice.

Lawrence had the size, the pedigree at Clemson, and the bubbly personality that made him a New York Giant under Gettleman’s helm. Lawrence has had two nice seasons and improved across the board from year one to year two.

Lawrence and Leonard Williams will anchor the d-line together. The two big bodies upfront have the size, speed, and talent to win in different situations from run-stopping to passrushing, and leadership off the field.

Lawrence is only going to get better over time. Still only 23, he is one of the youngest players on the Giants’ roster. He is under contract for two more seasons with the ability to extend for another with the 5th year option. Dexter is going to have a huge role on this defense this season and the Giants are expecting him to take another step towards becoming a Pro Bowl player.
