Right tackle

Matt Peart, Nate Solder

The NY Giants love Matt Peart, and were encouraged by what he showed the organization while rotating it at both offensive tackle spots as a rookie.

Peart produced a 69.7 overall grade from Pro Football Focus last season, while allowing just two sacks and nine pressures in 150 snaps. The UConn alum played 37 snaps at left tackle and 103 on the right side, where he’s likely earmarked to start this season.

While the organization is optimistic about Peart’s future, Nate Solder’s return after opting out of the 2020 season creates some competition. Solder is coming off his worst season as a professional in 2019, when he allowed 11 sacks and 56 quarterback pressures. Solder’s veteran presence could push him across the finish line along an offensive line that otherwise youthful offensive line.

Prediction: Peart wins the starting job easily, but Solder makes the roster as the swing-tackle and could rotate into games this season, especially as the coaching staff aims to keep players fresh during a 17-game schedule.
