NY Giants’ Kadarius Toney, Kelvin Benjamin leave practice early
Tuesday was the first time NY Giants rookie wide receiver Kadarius Toney was on the field with teammates Daniel Jones, Kenny Golladay, and others, but left early with an injury
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ — NY Giants rookie Kadarius Toney made his first appearance at practice this spring since rookie minicamp last month, but he didn’t finish Tuesday’s workout.
Toney seemed to slip during a late-practice pass-catching drill, and after getting the attention of trainers for several minutes, returned inside the Giants‘ facility and didn’t return.
The NY Giants chose Toney with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, but he has yet to finish a full practice this spring. Even during rookie minicamp, Toney lost out on time due to an issue with one of his shoes, and even went through some drills with only one shoe.
Wide receiver John Ross was not present fore the first of three mandatory practices during this minicamp, but according to the team, he was “accounted for.”
Meanwhile, veteran receiver/tight end Kelvin Benjamin also left practice early.
The scariest moment of practice, on a day where temperatures exceeded 102 degrees, was when NY Giants running back coach Burton Burns was carted off the field due to heat exhaustion, but the team’s medical staff says that he should be “okay.”
New York will hold two more mandatory practices this week as part of mandatory minicamp, continuing on Wednesday morning.
