The NY Giants signed Kenny Golladay to be target 1 for Daniel Jones after having a lack of weapons in 2020.

Kenny Golladay was the number one free agent on the market and the NY Giants made it a priority to sign him. It was a long free agent visit with Giants brass, head coach Joe Judge and Golladay. It resulted in a four-year $72 million deal.

The NY Giants were one of the worst teams in football in points scored, separation by wide receivers and points in the red zone.

Golladay is not a separation guy, but certainly will be a huge key for the NY Giants in the red zone and down the field. Daniel Jones regressed in his sophomore year but a lot of that is believed to be attributed to such a poor group of offensive weapons. Jones and Kenny Golladay have started working long before camp has begun.

According to PFF since 2018 Kenny Golladay is the highest graded wide receiver on catching contested targets, rating at 97.5%. Daniel Jones didn’t take many deep shots in the NY Giants passing game last year but when he did he was elite in the category. Daniel Jones was graded 95.6 on deep passes according to PFF which was top 5 in the NFL. The NY Giants will need offensive coordinator Jason Garrett to be more aggressive in the vertical passing game this year. It didn’t happen nearly enough in 2020.

The NY Giants are building something and they are hoping Jones and Golladay can lead the way. Jones and Golladay have been working together on and off the field. The duo has worked out on the football field before camp started. They have also spent some time together off the field. The two continue to build chemistry. Jones has spoken very highly of Golladay and Golladay of Jones.

When the NY Giants brought in Plaxico Burress it took Eli Manning to new heights. Burress was the missing piece to the offense. The Giants are hoping this addition is the one to cement Jones as the next face of the franchise. Everyone will always remember the Manning to Burress game winner in Super Bowl 42 and Jones and Golladay will try to recreate that success.
