NY Giants: 3 free agents to consider before training camp
NY Giants free-agent target #3: Melvin Ingram
Melvin Ingram has only known what it’s like to play for the Chargers in his professional football career after being selected with the #18 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft out of the University of South Carolina.
Whether it was in “America’s Finest City” San Diego or under the bright lights of Hollywood (or more specifically, Inglewood) the past four seasons, Ingram has only been with the Bolts in his nine-year career.
Well, if Ingram has any hopes of continuing his career, it will have to be with his second-ever franchise. Currently a free agent, the EDGE rusher has met with the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins already in free agency.
Dolphins head coach Brian Flores even had some complimentary words for the former Gamecock:
"“He’s had a very productive career. As a run player, as a pass rusher, as a disruptive defensive player, I’ve seen that from him. We do our due diligence on any player that available. That’s the case with Melvin."
Miami was a 10-6 team last year and has done a good job identifying talent, bringing in Tua Tagovailoa, Austin Jackson, and Noah Igbinoghene in 2020, and nabbing Jaylen Waddle in the first round of this year’s draft.
The NY Giants would be wise to usurp Miami for the athletic force if he doesn’t break the bank before training camp.
