NY Giants’ potential training camp cut #4: Madre Harper, CB

Madre Harper could be the cornerback casualty resulting from the addition of Aaron Robinson.

While Robinson may not step in and be a starter in week one, he will most certainly be groomed to eventually be able to do so in New York.

Someone down the line has to be let go to disperse the crowded secondary Graham has to sift through. Chris Milton would be the other option, but his five years of experience coupled with his successful career in the ACC at Georgia Tech will likely be viewed more favorably than Harper’s short career, which included a transfer from Oklahoma State to the FCS level.

Harper will have other opportunities to stick in the NFL, but his time in the Big Apple may be nearing its conclusion.

NY Giants’ potential training camp cut #5: Niko Lalos, DE

There’s an impending battle for the final DE spot on the depth chart between fourth-round pick Elerson Smith out of Northern Iowa and Niko Lalos out of Dartmouth.

While both come from the FCS level and were the featured performers on their collegiate teams, the UNI product Smith was a fourth-round selection from the 2021 NFL Draft.

Lalos played well in limited action last season–even nabbing an interception this past season against the Cincinnati Bengals–and like Harper, there will be other opportunities out there. That said, the practice squad is his best hope of continuing his career with Big Blue.
