Cornerback James Bradberry wakes up with GMFB
The NY Giants enter the 2021 season with higher expectations than previous years, thanks to additions around quarterback Daniel Jones, and a defense that added plenty of talent in addition to Pro Bowl cornerback James Bradberry this offseason.
On Friday, June 11, Bradberry joined ‘Good Morning Football’ to talk about his 2021 season goals, the Giants’ secondary, and quarterback Daniel Jones.
On the show, Bradberry said he just wants to “go out there and make as many plays as I can.” The Giants added many key players in free agency this past March including Kenny Golladay, Kyle Rudolph, and Adoree’ Jackson. Putting James Bradberry and now CB Adoree’ Jackson in the same backfield along with Jabrill Peppers, Logan Ryan and Xavier Mckinney is a scary sight to opposing wide receivers.
Bradberry was also asked what are we getting from this Giants’ secondary. His response was, “We’re still putting the pieces to the puzzle together because we’re just finished with OTA’s and minicamp, so we’re still learning each other, sticking that chemistry down, still learning the defense. So I feel like once we get all of that down, we’re going to be pretty good.”
He adds that, “we’re going to be gritty and work hard.”
The Giants defense showed out in the 2020 season and definitely exceeded expectations. They finished 12th in total defense, 10th in rushing defense and ninth in scoring defense. Only four teams allowed fewer passing touchdowns. They also finished with 40 total sacks. In January, defensive coordinator Patrick Graham was asked to interview for the Jets head coaching job, but he turned it down because being the defensive coordinator for the Giants is his “dream job”.
"Bradberry was asked about Giants’ quarterback Daniel Jones. He said, “I think he’s a very talented quarterback. I know you talk about that he has a lot of pressure and expectations this season but we all do. He’s going into his third year, I felt that pressure going into my third year. I trust him with the ball in his hands and believe he’ll make good decisions for us.”"
