The NY Giants aim to break a four-year NFL postseason drought, but before thinking of the playoffs, these five players absolutely need a strong training camp

After four straight seasons of not making the postseason, pretty much every member of the NY Giants should feel a need to have a strong summer. Parlaying that into a regular season filled with triumphs is paramount if the Giants want to stop all of the losing the franchise has been accustomed to in recent seasons.

That said, it isn’t an absolute necessity. After all, these NFL athletes have been strictly following COVID-19 protocols for the last year and finally have relaxed guidelines from the league to be able to go out and live more freely. Many should enjoy this time, though none should let that be an excuse to tank their training camp.

For some, though, it is an absolute necessity.

Whether to make a significant enough impression to stick on the roster or to give the franchise momentum heading into Joe Judge’s second year as the NY Giants’ head coach, here are the five NY Giants that need a strong training camp:

NY Giants player in need of a strong training camp #1: Saquon Barkley, RB

Any postseason hopes NY Giants fans may have rest on the shoulders–or more aptly the legs–of former No. 2 overall NFL Draft pick Saquon Barkley.

The Penn State product tore his ACL last season after having an injury take out almost a quarter of his 2019 campaign. In his fourth season, Barkley needs to show the promise he showed in 2018 as a prodigious rookie.

That begins with exciting reports coming out of camp that #26 is back to his bulldozing ways once more.
