NY Giants’ hidden gem #2: Graham Gano, K

The kicker on any given team–perhaps outside Adam Vinetari’s days with the New England Patriots and Sebastian Janikowski’s days in Oakland as a Raider–will always be a relatively hidden gem. It’s the nature of the position.

While kickers are often the ones who decide games, they are never the ones on billboards. Pat McAfee’s WWE career notwithstanding of course.

But Graham Gano is a perfectly reliable option that allows the front office to avoid the potentially annual carousel of kickers that often makes its way to the NFL’s 32 franchises.

Gano was a mainstay with the Carolina Panthers for seven seasons after debuting with Washington and playing in the nation’s capital for three years. He signed an extension through 2023, so the potential is there for Gano to be a long-term option for the Giants moving forward as well.

Either way, despite not being at the top of any fantasy football kickers to draft rankings, Gano is someone the locker room is better off having as the fall guy when the wind, a bad snap, or simply a bad kick puts him in a less than desirable spotlight.
