1) Signing WR Kenny Golladay

The prize of free agency at the receiver position lands in East Rutherford.

Two years removed from finishing as the NFL’s leading receiver, Golladay arrives as the most dominant weapon Jones has had in his supporting cast at any point during his football career.

Golladay, in 2019, caught 65 passes for 1,190 yards and 11 touchdowns, while only dropping five passes. Perhaps even more important, from an NY Giants perspective, than his production is the impact Golladay had on Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Stafford produced a 107.9 passer rating when targeting Golladay, which clearly gives the NY Giants hope that he can be a reliable high-upside target for Jones, in a year where evaluating his long-term potential as a quarterback is the top organizational priority.

Did the NY Giants overpay for Golladay? Sure.

Was it wholly necessary to add the best available playmaker to Jones’ offense? Absolutely. At almost any cost.

Golladay rounds out an offense that includes Jones, running back Saquon Barkley, wide receivers Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton, tight end Evan Engram, and Kyle Rudolph. His signing was the most impactful move of this offseason, and biggest sign of the organization’s commitment to compete in recent years.
