When it comes to any kind of off-the-field distractions, the NY Giants simply can’t afford to have any such thing as they prepare for the upcoming season. It’s not easy coming off a 6-10 season in a very weird NFC East divisional race last year that saw them barely miss the NFL Playoffs. Luckily for the Giants, they don’t have to worry about what could have been a huge distraction this offseason.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news via Twitter that the Dallas Cowboys have been selected for this year’s Hard Knocks on HBO. It’ll give football fans an all-access pass to what goes on during an NFL offseason, the battles that await in training camp, and a look at what lies ahead for America’s Team.

In the grand scheme of things, it’s actually a great thing that the Giants were not selected. They were indeed one of the five teams eligible to be picked for this year’s season but luckily, don’t have to worry about any of that outside noise. This is a team that has a lot of question marks left to answer and it just would have added more to their plate having to showcase all of them to a national audience.

Sometimes all the events that happen in a locker room are best left there and not out into the world for a team like the Giants that have a lot to prove in 2021. Will quarterback Daniel Jones live up to expectations? Can running back Saquon Barkley recover from his torn ACL injury? How will head coach Joe Judge do in his sophomore season running the ship?

At the end of the day, these are just a few of the storylines heading into training camp with more on the horizon once the roster starts to take shape. It’ll be very interesting to see how the rookies of the 2021 NHL Draft class do with Big Blue and of course, how everything will come together on the field when it matters most.

It’s an exciting time for fans as well, especially for the defensive secondary of the Giants and how it could very well be one of the best in the NFL. The last thing this team needs are any kind of issues going viral thanks to HBO’s Hard Knocks and their camera crew catching everything in stride. It’s important for this team to focus on the task at hand, get their work done all training camp long, and making sure that all these new players, especially the younger ones, hone their craft for big things in 2021.

Overall, no distractions from Hard Knocks will only help the cause and give the Giants one less thing to worry about. Considering what transpired last season with how unpredictable the NFC East can be, they should be able to entirely focus on making a playoff run if everything falls into place.
