NY Giants Offseason: The Viking Age on Offseason Signings from Minnesota
GMEN HQ:
Question #1: Odenigbo had a career-high 7 sacks in 2019 before getting half that number with 3.5 in 2020. He has 10.5 sacks the last two seasons, what type of production and impact do you expect him to have on the Giants’ front seven?
Viking Age:
It really just depends on how the NY Giants use him.
If he’s more of a situational pass-rusher like he was in 2019, then I would expect a similar amount of production to what he had during that season. If he cracks the starting lineup, things might go differently for Odenigbo than they did last year.
With Danielle Hunter injured for the entire season, Odenigbo actually ended up being on the receiving end of more double-teams than most of the top defensive ends in the entire NFL. In New York, however, I could see him benefiting from someone like Leonard Williams taking up a lot of the attention from the opposing offensive line, and performing more as he did in 2019.
