Toughness, grit and reliability – the greatest of the NY Giants’ tight-ends have possessed these traits.

Those traits from NY Giants tight ends have helped win NFL Championship, Super Bowls, and pound division rivals into the ground. They weren’t always making the big play, but they made the plays when it mattered.

Evan Engram has worked tirelessly to correct his flaws and earn his place in team history, while Kyle Rudolph joined the Giants this off-season hoping to carve out his own niche. If they can be security blankets for a successful season, they’ll be on their way.

Here are the top 10 tight-ends in NY Giants’ history:

10) Gary Shirk

Years: 1976-1982

The former Moorehead State Eagle, Gary Shirk, helped the NY Giants’ offense in many ways throughout his seven seasons in New York.

Shirk was reliable as they come at the tight-end position – hauling in 11 touchdowns for 1640 yards in his time with the Giants. He helped open the door for future Giants’ tight-ends – like Mark Bavaro.
