NY Giants’ top 3 MVP candidates: Can anyone best Saquon Barkley?
2) QB – Daniel Jones
This might be now or never time for Danny Dimes.
Young quarterbacks such as Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, and others made great leaps in their second seasons, and that’s the kind of step the NY Giants invested so many resources in the offensive skill positions this offseason to hope the former No. 6 overall pick in the NFL Draft makes in his third.
Jones has been just average through his first two seasons, tossing 35 touchdowns to 22 interceptions while regressing dramatically in 2020. But, it is difficult to envision him not playing better with so much talent around him.
The combination of a more dynamic supporting cast, and the pressure to win now, should be enough for Jones to improve. If he doesn’t, the clock could start ticking on the NY Giants eyeing a young quarterback to replace him, far sooner than anyone would have ever expected in 2019.
