Experience

I know it sounds crazy to say a player who has only played six games in the NFL is experienced …  By no means am I saying  McKinney is a grizzled veteran who has seen it all, but, adjusting to the speed of an NFL game is one of the toughest things any rookie needs to do.

McKinney has done that already in a very short period of time.

He is battle tested at several positions, is getting a full training camp, and preseason to become even more influential in the defense. McKinney showed a poise and leadership quality you do not see from rookies often, especially one thrown into key situations on defense that was year one in the system.

So, while his experience is not in pure NFL playing time, he showed enough in six games to prove that he knows the game, knows the defense, and would be able to catapult the secondary to live up to the pre-hype that they are top tier.
