Kenny Golladay was the premier wide receiver available in free agency, and the NY Giants signed him hoping he will make an impact on Daniel Jones, but he must stay healthy to do so

How often does NY Giants wide receiver Kenny Golladay get injured?

Signed by the NY Giants in March, 2021, as the premier wide receiver on the free agent market, the former Detroit Lions star has battled through his share of injuries through the first four seasons of his career.

The Giants, though, are betting upwards of $45 million guaranteed over the next four seasons that Golladay will be able to stay on the field and make an impact on quarterback Daniel Jones’ development as well as help level up one of the league’s most disappointing offenses.

Here’s a look at some of Golladay’s most notable injuries, as well as an update on the most recent injury he sustained.

Kenny Golladay hamstring injury, 2021

Golladay immediately grabbed his hamstring during the first rep of a seven-on-seven drill during training camp practice on Tuesday, August 3, before hobbling to the sideline and ultimately walking off the field and out of practice with a trainer.

The NY Giants are optimistic that the “worst-case scenario” has been avoided when it comes to Golladay’s injury, but there is no timetable for his return.

Kenny Golladay hip flexor, 2020

Golladay suffered a hip-flexor injury in Week 9 of the 2020 season that landed him on season-ending injured reserve. In what turned out to be Golladay’s final season in Detroit, he caught a career-low 20 passes for 338 yards and a pair of touchdowns in five games.

One year removed from finishing as the NFL’s leading receiver in 2019, Golladay’s 2020 campaign got off to an inauspicious start before it even began. Golladay suffered a hamstring injury during practice ahead of the Lions’ season opening 27-23 loss to the Chicago Bears. The injury kept Golladay out of Detroit’s first two games of the season.

Kenny Golladay chest injury, 2018

Golladay suffered a chest injury in Week 15 of the 2018 season. The injury was significant enough that it cost Golladay not only the final two games of the season, but also kept him out of the Lions’ offseason program the following winter.
