Why McKinney won’t breakout:

Suddenly, the NY Giants’ secondary is one of the more improved positions on the roster, which could put snaps at a premium.

Logan Ryan’s seamless transition from slot cornerback to safety takes away one spot for McKinney to get on the field, alongside Jabrill Peppers, and there is some depth with Darnay Holmes, Julian Love, and rookie Aaron Williamson all pushing for playing time in the slot.

If McKinney isn’t one of the NY Giants’ starting safeties, and plays only sparingly in the slot, it is fair to wonder if he will be on the field enough to truly be considered a “breakout” player in his second season.
