While the pass rush for the NY Giants has plenty of quality players, the top dog of the bunch has yet to establish himself.

Fourth year pro Lorenzo Carter looked poised to breakout in 2020 and take that top spot as the go-to guy for the Giants’ edge unit, but an achilles injury in week five ended his season before it could truly take off.

Achilles injuries can be worrisome, and although it is encouraging that Carter was not on the PUP list released prior to the start of training camp, it may be wise for the Giants to ease him back into the swing of things.

While Carter is getting reacclimatized, that opens up the door for someone to step up and become the featured pass rusher for New York in 2020.

In comes Ojulari, who the Giants selected 50th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. Prior to the draft, Ojulari was getting first round hype, and snagging him at 50 looks to have been a bargain.

Ojulari redshirted in 2018 with the Georgia Bulldogs and later went on to start at edge for the next two years, logging 8.5 sacks and 31 tackles during his final collegiate season in 2020.

If a rookie second-round pick was ever going to come in and establish himself as the main man for the pass rush group, now is the time. In the event Ojulari has a strong camp and proves he should have been selected higher in the draft, he puts himself in position for a potentially big season in 2021.
