NY Giants’ 53-man roster prediction as training camp begins
Safeties (4) Jabrill Peppers, Logan Ryan, Xavier McKinney, Julian Love
Outside looking in: Joshua Kalu, Montre Hartage, Jordyn Peters
The NY Giants have invested significant resources at safety the past two offseasons, that have yielded significant returns.
Peppers and Ryan likely enter as the starting safeties, but given that coordinator Patrick Graham frequently deploys three safety sets, McKinney will see plenty of action.
A former second-round draft choice, out of Alabama, McKinney has the potential to be one of the breakout stars not only of the NY Giants’ defense but of the NFL in his second season.
Look for Julian Love to also push for snaps at safety, or even in the nickel, after showing promise last season.
Specialists (3)
K – Graham Gano
P – Ryan Santoso
LS – Carson Tinker
No real surprises here.
Santoso beats out Riley Dixon, after Dixon struggled in 2020, Santoso’s versatility to also kick in addition to punting will help him win this position battle.
