There is plenty of pressure on several NY Giants as training camp opens this week, ahead of the 2021 NFL season
NFL training camp is always a great place for players to prove they belong, and for the NY Giants, that is no different as camp opens this week.
Whether it is a late round draft pick or young undrafted player looking to get that shot, the stakes are never higher than in training camp.
The 2021 Giants have no shortage of these type of players.
Here’s a look at five players hovering near the bottom of the NY Giants’ depth chart, who need a strong training camp to make the team:
Rodarius Williams – DB
The 201st pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Williams started 48 consecutive games at Oklahoma State and shined as a senior putting all his tools and talents together.
Evaluated anywhere from a second-round prospect to an undrafted free agent, Williams struggled with inconsistency until his final college year.
Williams, 6-foot and 190 pounds, has good size along with strength to play press man coverage.
He is also adept at zone coverage and has no issue coming up to make a tackle. While fast and agile Williams is going to need to be coached about his hands as he tends to hold and grab far more than he should.
It is a crowded secondary, but if Williams can be as consistent as he was as a senior he has more than enough talent to make the roster and help out.
