NY Giants roster breakdown: Locks, long shots, camp bubble players
Longshots 23
QB Clayton Thorson, WR Derrick Dillon, WR David Sills, WR Alex Bachman, FB Cullen Gillaspia, OT Jackson Barton, OG Brett Heggie, OG Jake Burton, OT Kyle Murphy, DL RJ McIntosh, DL David Moa, DL Raymond Johnson, LB Cale Garrett, CB Sam Beal, DB Jordyn Peters, DB Joshua Kalu, DB Quincy Wilson, Cullen Gillaspia, TE Nakia Griffin-Stewart, TE Cole Hikutini, RB Sandro Platzgummer, RB Mike Weber, CB Jarren Williams
These are the players who will need significant help to make the roster.
Given the NY Giants’ crowded receiver room, Dillon, Sills, and Bachman could face a steep uphill climb for perhaps one available job, and even that spot could be filled if John Ross has a strong camp proving he can stay healthy.
Meanwhile, each of the offensive linemen could be practice squad material.
Kalu’s recent stint on the COVID-19/reserve list could bury him on the depth chart in what might suddenly be one of the NFL’s premier secondaries.
McIntosh has struggled to see the field through his first three seasons, and given that the defensive line might be the deepest position on the NY Giants’ roster, this might be the end of the line for the former Miami Hurricane.
