NY Giants linebacker Blake Martinez returned to the practice field Tuesday, after being activated from the COVID-19/reserve list
The NY Giants are set to finally welcome back the rock and leader of their defense. Blake Martinez has been officially removed from the COVID-19 List.
Martinez returned to practice Tuesday amidst a flurry of moves.
Martinez was joined by Josh Kalu being activated from the COVID-19 list. Wide receiver Derrick Dillon was placed on the Reserve/Injured list. Newly-signed linebacker Todd Davis called his quits today as he retired a mere three days after being signed.
Blake Martinez joined his teammates back at the Quest today and he is back in business as the Giants have their first day of practice in full pads Tuesday. Martinez was out there and was in uniform but did not fully participate in all team and individual drills.
While Martinez coming back is a positive development, the Giants won’t rush him back onto the field so soon after his illness. Coach Judge said at his pre-practice presser that “Martinez won’t take every snap he normally would.”
The Giants’ defense will gladly turn to #54 to command the linebackers’ crew. The unit is dealing with injuries all over as Carter Coughlin took many starting reps alongside Tae Crowder. Reggie Ragland has been hurt, and so has Oshane Ximines and Lorenzo Carter (again), and also rookie Elerson Smith. Stay tuned as Blake Martinez returns amidst an important week in NY Giants’ training camp.
