NY Giants optimistic about Kenny Golladay injury, return timeline unknown
Kenny Golladay will see a doctor to evaluate his injured hamstring, after getting hurt during Tuesday’s NY Giants training camp practice
NY Giants head coach Joe Judge says that wide receiver Kenny Golladay will visit a doctor Wednesday to assess his hamstring, injured during Tuesday’s training camp practice, but the team hasn’t released a timeline for his return.
“In terms of a worst-case scenario, we seem to have avoided that,” Judge said on a conference call with reporters Wednesday. “But, we’ll see what the timetable looks like.”
Golladay injured his hamstring during his first target of seven-on-seven drills Monday, immediately grabbing his hamstring before having the ball stripped away by linebacker Tae Crowder.
Setting expectations for NY Giants WR Kenny Golladay’s return
While the NY Giants don’t believe that Golladay’s injury is serious, it certainly is worth monitoring and there are no guarantees that he will get back on the field anytime soon.
Last season, Golladay missed two games due to a hamstring injury and was later shutdown due to an injured quad, prior to signing with the NY Giants on a four-year deal worth upwards of $45 million guaranteed this offseason.
It has been an inconsistent start to this training camp for Golladay, as he’s struggled with drops and getting on the same page with quarterback Daniel Jones throughout the first week of practices.
The NY Giants still have upwards of five-plus weeks before the regular season opener against the Denver Broncos, but missing valuable practice reps with Jones could hamper Golladay’s chances of hitting the ground running to open the season.
