Kenny Golladay has chance to return for NY Giants’ season opener, report
The expectation is that NY Giants wide receiver Kenny Golladay will be back on the field in plenty of time before the regular season opener, report says
The NY Giants seem to have gotten the best news possible, when it comes to wide receiver Kenny Golladay’s hamstring injury.
According to a report from the New York Daily News, Golladay could be back on the field sometime within the next two-to-three weeks.
Golladay immediately grabbed his hamstring after having a pass stripped away during seven-on-seven drills Tuesday by linebacker Tae Crowder, before walking off the field and out of practice with a trainer.
If the timeline reported holds true, Golladay could be back on the field sometime around August 23, with nearly three weeks to spare before the NY Giants open the regular season in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos at MetLife Stadium.
However, taking it slow with Golladay — who missed two games with the Detroit Lions last season due to a hamstring injury — might be what is most prudent, especially after the Giants committed upwards of $45 million guaranteed to the wide receiver this offseason.
One caveat to Golladay’s situation is that hamstring injuries can linger, so timelines can be unpredictable.
Golladay had been off to a slow start to training camp, prior to getting injured, struggling with dropped passes and seemingly not being on the same page with quarterback Daniel Jones. While any time lost to injury could impact the chemistry between the young quarterback and veteran wide receiver, the fact that Golladay has plenty of time to prepare for the season has to be encouraging for the NY Giants.
