The NY Giants’ defense took major strides last season, and thanks to a year of continuity and some marquee additions, could be even better in 2021

It’s no secret that the NY Giants’ improvement on defense was one of the biggest stories for the 2020 season.

Last season’s signings of James Bradberry, Blake Martinez, and Logan Ryan along with a career year from Leonard Williams all helped transform the Giants‘ defense.

Now, with one season together under their belt, New York’s defense could take another big jump this fall.

Here are the NY Giants’ top five players on defense:

5. Logan Ryan

Despite not being signed until Aug. 31, 2020, and being forced to play a new position, Logan Ryan made an immediate impact.

Ryan had 98 tackles and led the NY Giants with three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. His one interception of the year helped seal a 23-20 win over the Washington Football Team.

Ryan’s play led to a 3-year $31 million extension on Dec. 25, 2020.

With a full offseason as a Giant and one season at free safety under his belt, Ryan could be poised for an even better season in 2021.
