NY Giants training camp: Saquon Barkley returns, John Ross injured, more
Daniel Jones-Evan Engram connection heating up
It must be August, because Evan Engram has been one of Daniel Jones’ most reliable targets this camp.
Monday, Jones and Engram connected on a couple of big plays downfield, on what was a solid day all around for the passing offense.
During an 11-on-11 period, Jones threaded the needle between defenders, and Engram pulled down a pass with second-year safety Xavier McKinney bearing down. Now, Monday’s practice was not in full pads and there wasn’t any contact, but to see the quarterback and tight end duo very much on the same page is encouraging.
Engram has much on the line this season, playing out the fifth-year option of his rookie contract, but following Kelvin Benjamin’s retirement and Kyle Rudolph’s continued rehab from a foot injury, Engram is the main attraction at tight end and has been making the most of his targets this summer.
