4 Biggest winners from NY Giants camp as preseason opener looms
4) Rodarius Williams – NY Giants CB
Behind the scenes, rookie Rodarius Williams was begging for an opportunity.
Once the coaches finally gave him his shot, the NY Giants’ sixth-round rookie hasn’t looked back, making some big plays with the first-team defense.
The NY Giants seem set on the perimeter with James Bradberry and Adoree’ Jackson, but with so many unproven options for the nickel cornerback job, Williams is having himself a strong training camp audition to fill that void.
“I feel like in this game,” Williams told reporters last week. “You definitely gotta go out there and show guys you’re not scared. You go out there [being] quiet as a mouse, they’re going to feel like they’ve got the upper hand on you, so I’m definitely going out there even though I’m a rookie and showing them, like, you gotta beat me at the end of the day.”
Williams has been an early-camp winner, and might just sneak up on a major role in the secondary.
