OLB — Oshane Ximines over Azeez Ojulari

Despite the fact that Ojulari has been participating with the first team in some portions of practice,  he was not listed as a starter on the unofficial depth chart.

Taking the top spot at outside linebacker instead was Ximines, a 2019 third round pick by New York out of Old Dominion. In his rookie season, Ximines showed promise by tallying 25 tackles and 5 TFL’s to go along with 4.5 sacks. He also logged 12 total pressures.

His sophomore campaign, however, was cut short by a rotator cuff injury he suffered in week 4 against the Los Angeles Rams, ending his season before it had a true chance to take off.

It will be interesting to see how the pass rush rotation works between Ximines, Ojulari and Lorenzo Carter, among others.

A potential top 10 defense, the Giants seemingly appear to lack a dominant edge presence. If someone can step up into that role, the defense may be propelled from an above average group into the league’s elite.
