Here’s who’s name is trending after the NY Giants’ first preseason game.

The NY Giants finally hosted a preseason game for the first time since 2019, falling to the Jets 12-7 at MetLife Stadium.

It was a vanilla showing for the Giants as they got their feet wet for the first time in a game setting since December of last year.

Most of the team’s starters sat on both sides of the ball, other than four of the five starting offensive linemen, whose play should leave alarm bells ringing.

Shane Lemieux didn’t dress as he works his way back from injury.

Lemieux was joined on the sidelines along with Daniel Jones, Sterling Shepard, Evan Engram, Saquon, and Kenny Golladay. These five players will be the five most critical to the Giants’ offense, so it’s no surprise to see the ‘starting’ offense struggle.

Mysteriously, first-round rookie wide receiver Kadarius Toney didn’t warmup with his teammates and was not on the sideline for what was supposed to be his NFL debut.

While it’s just preseason, it’s still football.

There was plenty of players to evaluate and things to learn from. Five players will be cut from the roster tomorrow so there is absolutely no room for error.

Here’s who’s stock is rising and who’s falling for the NY Giants heading into Week 2 of Preseason.

Stock Up: Danny Shelton, NT

Danny Shelton is set to carve out a nice role for himself on the NY Giants’ defensive line.

Shelton is a mammoth in the middle of the defense. He is an immovable object who uses his size, strength, and speed for his own gain.

#75 showed just what he can bring this season in his first game as a Giant. On a key 4th and 1 opportunity from the Giants’ 40-yard line, Shelton blew through the interior of the Jets’ offensive line. Shelton latched right onto Ty Johnson who never had a shot.

If Shelton keeps producing big plays like this, it will be hard to keep him off the field this season.
