NY Giants Running backs (4)
Saquon Barkley, Devontae Booker, Corey Clement, Eli Penny
Outside looking in: Alfred Morris, Gary Brightwell
Barkley is back on the practice field, but there’s a chance the first time he sees any reps against a defense is the season opener against the Denver Broncos next month.
For Barkley, the upcoming campaign’s success hinges on him proving to the NY Giants that he can stay healthy for a full season, and return to his form as a top running back prior to tearing his ACL in Week 2 last season.
Thus far in training camp, Clement has made the most of what has seemingly been an extended workload, and looked a bit more consistent and explosive than both Booker and Brightwell.
Expect the NY Giants, if Brightwell gets caught in a numbers game and can’t overtake Clement in the coming weeks, to aim to add the rookie to the practice squad next month.
