NY Giants linebackers (10)

Blake Martinez, Tae Crowder, Lorenzo Carter, Oshane Ximines, Azeez Ojulari, Niko Lalos, Carter Coughlin, Ifeadi Odenigbo, Cam Brown, Elerson Smith

Outside looking in: Reggie Ragland, Devante Downs, TJ Brunson

Linebacker might be the must unproven position on the NY Giants’ roster, and the spot with the most competition for jobs.

Blake Martinez aims to build on a strong first season with the NY Giants in 2020, and the competition for the starting job inside next to him has been intense throughout camp.

During the preseason opener against the Jets, Crowder did a nice job generating pressure on Zach Wilson, while playing with the first team-defense. Meanwhile, Coughlin saw significant time at inside linebacker in the second half Saturday.

Throughout training camp, Lalos has been a mainstay at outside linebacker with the first-team defense, as Elerson Smith had been sidelined due to injury, so it would seem unlikely that he falls off the roster. Brown also seems to be a favorite of the coaching staff, especially because of his versatility to play inside and outside linebacker.
