It’s no secret that the New York Giants need help on the offensive line.

After the retirements of Joe Looney and Zach Fulton, the offensive line is a position that the NY Giants had a lot of question marks at entering training camp, now severely lacks depth, and got off to a rough start in a preseason opening loss to the Jets.

With largely unproven options to upgrade the offensive line lacking from within, the Giants will likely have to make a trade in order to improve the trenches.

Here are three players that could help improve an NY Giants offensive line that desperately needs help.

Laken Tomlinson – San Francisco 49ers

While this may be a long shot, it’s not as far-fetched as you think.

Tomlinson, who’s entering his fifth season with the San Francisco 49ers, is in the final year of his contract. After drafting Notre Dame offensive lineman Aaron Banks in the second round, the odds that Tomlinson gets re-signed by San Francisco after this season seems slim.

If Banks has developed to the point where the 49ers feel comfortable starting him right away, then they may decide to trade Tomlinson for something rather than letting him walk for nothing next offseason.

The Giants have two third and fourth-round picks in 2022. A third-round pick or a fourth-round pick and a player like Julian Love could be enough to get the deal done.

Tomlinson would add some much-needed experience and be an upgrade to the interior of a Giants offensive line that desperately needs it.
