Round 2: Azeez Ojulari, Outside Linebacker

The NY Giants’ top weaknesses last year were on both sides of the trenches. The Giants couldn’t pass block well and their pass rushers couldn’t make enough of a consistent difference.

This is the exact reason the NY Giants brought in Azeez Ojulari. Ojulari has come in and had a nice offseason and training camp. He has held his own against both veteran competition and highly-regarded young linemen such as Andrew Thomas and now Mekhi Becton.

Ojulari made a few nice plays in his first NFL action Saturday night. He showed off his impressive athleticism and strength when he fought off Becton and disengaged his mammoth arms to free loose for a nice tackle right at the line of scrimmage. It’s the exact type of play the Giants have struggled with in recent memory and has set their defense back immensely.

Ojulari has kept his head clean and put in the work to start immediately in year one. He is well-deserving and the Giants truly lack no other clear-cut options to start over the rookie. Ojulari is well-positioned to be the Giants’ top rookie this year both in terms of playing time and performance potential.
