Round 3: Aaron Robinson, Cornerback

Aaron Robinson is facing a tough outlook for his rookie season.

Whether he wants to or not, it may be somewhat of a ‘redshirt’ season for Robinson as he currently struggles with his health and any obvious playing time. The Giants have loaded up on cornerbacks and there is currently not much room for A-Rob to find a path to seeing the field in year one.

Robinson is still recovering from offseason surgery. He initially practiced and participated in Rookie Minicamp and OTAs. Something may have occurred at the Giants facility or while he was training on his own, but it was serious enough for him to get core muscle surgery late in the Spring.

Robinson has yet to participate in any setting of training camp. He has strictly worked on the side during practices while working with the Giants’ medical team as he progresses through his recovery and rehab.

Robinson isn’t taking James Bradberry or Adoree’ Jackson‘s job anytime soon. When he returns to the field, he will likely compete squarely with Darnay Holmes to get reps inside at the nickel back position. Robinson is a talented, aggressive, physical corner who just may have to wait for his chance in his first season.
