EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The NY Giants traded cornerback Isaac Yiadom to the Green Bay Packers, league sources tell FanSided.
Yiadom, acquired by the NY Giants in exchange for a seventh-round pick in a 2020 trade with the Denver Broncos, was in the mix for a roster spot. However, his days on the Giants were numbered after New York acquired Keion Crossen in a deal with the Houston Texans on Monday.
Last season, Yiadom played a key role in the NY Giants’ secondary, appearing in all 16 games, including making 10 starts, while producing 46 total tackles, forcing one fumble, and breaking up five passes.
According to Pro Football Focus, opposing quarterbacks had a 126.4 passer rating when targeting Yiadom, but the 25-year-old produced a 82.1 pass-rush grade, while logging one quarterback hit.
In 45 career games, Yiadom has produced 109 total tackles, half a sack, intercepted four passes and broken up 12 others.
Yiadom became expendable, following Crossen’s arrival in exchange for a sixth-round pick. Look for Crossen to contribute primarily on special teams as a gunner, while also getting snaps in Patrick Graham’s NY Giants defense.
It is obvious that the NY Giants are continuing to churn the bottom of the roster, aiming to find young players who can contribute at key positions, even if that means at a spot such as cornerback that is currently loaded with veteran depth.
